Oscar Piastri criticized the racing product at the British Grand Prix. According to the Australian, it is simply "sad" on energy-draining tracks.
Piastri had a difficult British Grand Prix, finishing outside the points after sustaining damage during the opening laps of the race. The McLaren driver described the opening laps on energy-draining circuits as "carnage."
Speaking to GPblog, among others, he explained: "Lap 1 on these kind of circuits is just carnage. You know, it's almost like a multi-class race start. I was trying to overtake Lindblad and I seemed like I had more power than him. Lawson then passed me, who seemed like he had even more power than me. I feel like it's just a mess. You're trying to judge your speed to the car in front of you, look at the car behind you. But it's, I don't know. I'm surprised that that doesn't happen more often."
He continued: "I think these tracks where you've got so much speed, so many straights where you're not at full power, it's just chaotic. Austria, I think had the potential for it to be a bit chaotic, but you've got all the straights so early in the lap that you don't actually really run out of power that quickly. Whereas here, like by the time you've got halfway to Turn 6 already, you've already run out of battery on a normal lap. Then you've got to Turn 9."

'Spa and Monza will be sad'

Oscar Piastri also expects the weekends at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza to be like that for the same reason. He concluded: "Like, you've got so many straights where you're not at full power that if you choose to save or use it, the delta is huge. So I think it's the layout of the track, Spa and Monza are going to be sad."

Norris tried to outsmart the entire F1 grid with a cheeky move: 'Is that possible?'

Piastri's teammate, Lando Norris, asked his race engineer during the final lap whether he could win the British Grand Prix via the pit lane.
He said: "You’re not allowed to box are you? You can’t win it in the pit lane?"

"No, you're not," Will Joseph answered to Norris. "Shame," the defending world champion concluded.
