Max Verstappen has shared a big hint about his future in Formula 1. Based on a social media post, the four-time world champion will not leave the competition after the 2026 campaign. Verstappen's future is one of the hottest topics in
F1. Will the Dutchman stay with Red Bull Racing, or will he make the switch to McLaren, for example?
A transfer to the latter,
according to rumors, is becoming increasingly likely. Another option he could still choose would be to (temporarily) step away from Formula 1.
Over the course of the 2026 season, Verstappen has repeatedly said that he does not plan to take a sabbatical, and once he hangs up his gloves, he will not return to the sport. Nevertheless, last week, a journalist
reported that taking a year off could be an option for Verstappen, with quitting Formula 1 entirely after 2026 also being on the table.
Verstappen drops hint to fans
Today, a promotional video was shared on Verstappen's website and its social media channels. Through his marketing team, Verstappen is calling on fans to buy tickets for the Max Verstappen grandstand at the Red Bull Ring, to be part of the Orange Army that has supported him all over the world for many years.
Judging by that message, Verstappen will 'simply' be on the grid next year. Is this definitive proof that the Dutchman is staying on? No. But it does indicate that he indeed plans to be active during the 2027 season as well.
