Oscar Piastri has won the Driver of the Day award for the first time in 2025 after taking a commanding victory at the Miami Grand Prix.
The Australian won his third consecutive race as he solidified his place at the top of the championship standings. Piastri becomes the first driver to win three races in a row for McLaren since Mika Hakkinen.

Albon sat in tight second place

Voting was tight between the Australian and Alex Albon. The Williams driver finished in an impressive P5 whilst teammate Carlos Sainz also managed to finish in the points in ninth, despite sustaining damage on the first lap of the race. Williams have already beaten their 2024 points tally and have made their best start to the season since 2017.
On the official F1 website, they summarise Piastri's performance in brief: "He may have narrowly missed out on victory in the Miami Sprint, but Oscar Piastri made no mistake in the main event. After capitalising on his team mate's early adventures, the Australian hunted down Max Verstappen, cleverly biding his time to find a clean way past the Red Bull, before going on to head a dominant McLaren one-two and extend his championship lead."
Teammate Lando Norris won Driver of the Day at the first race of the season in Australia, but neither McLaren driver has found themselves in the win column since. Kimi Antonelli, Yuki Tsunoda, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have all won the vote once for their respective performances in 2025. Therefore, no driver leads the way in the competition after a quarter of the Formula 1 season.
