Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari spent a whole year in the cooler only to be completed ahead of the 2025 F1 season. During the British Grand Prix, however, the Stevenage-born F1 champion copped to 'missing his old team.' Hamilton's time at Ferrari has not been all it was expected to be, with the team losing its way in 2025 following a rather strong 2024, due to the way the Italian Scuderia approached their current challenger's design.
Nevertheless the Marenllo-based outfit can still call themselves best of the rest, which provides little comfort, of course, for a team whose goal is expected to be nothing short of winning races and titles.
During the ongoings of the British Grand Prix, Hamilton took the microphone and the center stage at the fan zone at Silverstone and said to the crowd present: "It's mind blowing for me to see you guys with the red caps."
Hamilton still loves and misses Mercedes
"I still love my old team. I miss them. I miss working with the crew all the time. Some of these races I go by the engineers room and go by the garage and see Bono and see all the mechanics. It's so much love still there."
After 6 titles, countless wins, poles and podiums, and 12 years of collaboration, Hamilton decided to have what looks likely to be his final adventure at a new team in Formula 1.
Hamilton reveals he hasn't helped develop the SF-25
Making the switch to Ferrari has not been easy, due to the arduous acclimatisation process the 7-time world champion has undergone, coupled by the intricacies of the SF-25. A car has had no say in its design, nor its development.
"But it was such a big leap of faith to join a new team and it's been so tough this year. So many good things but also, ultimately I'm with a car that I've not been anything a part of developing," Hamilton concluded.
