Over the past two seasons, McLaren became the team to beat in Formula 1. In Hungary, Lando Norris also looked back on his form since the Woking-based team is the dominant force in the competition. "I mean, it's just always different situations, different moments along the way," the British driver began to GPblog among others.
"I think still as a driver, I still feel better than I was. Doesn't mean I always do a better job because the car is quite different this year. I’ve had my trickier moments with the car and understanding how to drive it. Yes, it’s a McLaren and it’s still got papaya on it, but it handles pretty differently to how it was done in previous years. So I’ve had to just adapt to that," he explained what has been difficult for him.
Norris sees himself making a step forward in finding solutions
However, the Briton also noticed a step forward in himself in this regard. "It's not suited me as well and those things. This was tough and I got to do what I had to do and I needed to do a better job to get back to being as quick as I need to be. Which I feel like I've done, I've improved on. So I think my my ability to improve on on worst moments has improved, or ability to improve on certain struggles that you might achieve during the weekend, or over a session, or a practice, whatever it is."
he concluded: "Other than that, I think there's just always going to be, for everyone, little things along the way that's a new experience, or you didn't expect that you wish you could be better on, but I think that's life."
Norris ended up winning the
Hungarian Grand Prix ahead of Oscar Piastri, after he managed to keep his teammate behind over the final laps.
