After Charles Leclerc's pole position, the Monegasque driver missed out on the podium at the Hungaroring. Can Ferrari fight for victories heading into the second half of the season? Team principal Frederic Vasseur answered this question.
The Frenchman remained cautious rating the Scuderia's chances after the summer break. The season will continue with a doubleheader, and the grid will first visit Zandvoort during the end of August, and then will travel to Monza.
"It's mega difficult to predict also because I think the picture of one day is not necessarily true the next weekend," the Ferrari team principal began to GPblog among others. "But at least I would say that the last two Grands Prix, that we once again had pace."
"We are consistent on…, not the last stint, I'm not completely stupid guys," the Frenchman joked. "We are quite consistent on the tyres, we are able to manage the pace and if we are back in qualifying, it means that we will fight with them (the McLaren, ed.)," he continued with his verdict.

Where does Ferrari need to improve one?

Vasseur also sees what currently makes the difference between themselves and the Woking-based team.
"I think that the advantage that they have today (Sunday in Hungary, ed.) is that they are always there. It doesn't matter that yesterday in qualifying (on Saturday) we were a bit faster, but it was marginal. They perform in every single condition. When we are a bit more inconsistent during the weekend, and if we want to win, we need to be very consistent in every single condition," the team principal explained.
"In the free practise [sessions] to have a good preparation for the race, in Q1, Q2, Q3, with all the sets in the race, with the different compounds and so on. I think it's where today they are a bit more performant than us."
