Oscar Piastri has provided some insight into what has been making his 2025 season start so successful with 4 wins out of 6 Grand Prix: an unrelenting quest to do and be a holistically better F1 driver.
The reductionistic argument that pins his success on McLaren's 2025 F1 car being better suited to him does not hold merit with Piastri.
"I think the car is an evolution from what we had last year. There's some things that are different, but there's a lot of things that still do the same thing as last season," he said in the paddock in Miami to media like GPblog.

Non-stop work is the reason behind Piastri's step forward

Whereas last year, qualifying, tyre management and an inability to keep errors contained were at the heart of his more underwhelming results, Piastri didn't seek gains in thos particular areas, but rather took a more comprehensive approach, which neer stops, he explains.
"I think from my side, I feel like I have taken a step forward across the board. I think there's not been one specific thing that I tried to work on from last year. I've just been trying to find those last hundreds of a second wherever you can and I think at the moment that's been making the difference."
"I've still lost out on a few poles by a few hundreds of a second so I've still got some more digging to do, but I think that's been the big difference for me so far. "
"There are still some things we're trying to iron out as a team with the car we've got. It's clearly very quick but it's not always the easiest to get the pace out of, but I think that was the case sometimes last year as well," said Piastri comparing the intricacies of last year's and this year's car.
Lando Norris and Max Verstappen both trail the young Aussie driver in the standings and if Piastri manages to retain this level of performance they may just become the first victims of Piastri's unrelenting approach to F1 as he vies for his first F1 title.
