The FIA has delivered its verdict following the investigation launched yesterday into Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris for arriving late to Thursday's press conference. Leclerc and Norris
were scheduled to appear in the opening FIA press conference session of the
Monaco Grand Prix weekend alongside Bortoleto. While the Audi driver was present as expected, the Ferrari and Red Bull drivers arrived after the scheduled start time, forcing organisers to briefly delay the beginning of the media session.
After hearing from both drivers, the FIA decided to impose a €5,000 fine on both teams. However, the penalty has been suspended for a period of 12 months and will only be enforced in the event of a further breach of a similar nature.
The stewards reviewed statements from both drivers as well as representatives from their respective teams. During the hearing, the drivers explained that their late arrival had been caused by a prior engagement. Under the FIA International Sporting Code, responsibility for a driver's conduct ultimately rests with the competitor, leading the stewards to direct the penalty at the teams rather than the drivers themselves.
FP1 set to get underway as Monaco Grand Prix weekend begins
With the Canadian Grand Prix now in the books following Kimi Antonelli's fourth consecutive victory, attention shifts to Monaco for the sixth race weekend of the season. The iconic street circuit has traditionally placed a huge emphasis on qualifying, with track position often proving decisive and even the smallest mistake carrying the risk of a costly encounter with the barriers.
After the previous sprint weekend, Monaco marks a return to the traditional
Formula 1 format, featuring three practice sessions before qualifying on Saturday and the Grand Prix on Sunday. The opening practice session is set to get underway in just over half an hour, and as always, you can follow
