Lando Norris and Max Verstappen shared a playful moment alongside F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali after the Abu Dhabi GP. The new world champion stretched out on the chairs for a moment to shake off the tension built up during the race, with the F1 CEO jokingly telling him, “don’t sleep.” At that point, Verstappen joined in, warning him that he was in for a “long night” of celebrations.
Norris managed to hold his nerve until the end, even though at one point he came under threat from Charles Leclerc, risking a fourth-place finish that would have cost him the championship.
The Brit also endured a few tense laps after coming under investigation for his move on Yuki Tsunoda, though the Japanese driver was ultimately deemed at fault for weaving on the straight.
Norris: 'I now know what Max feels like!'
The Brit was over the moon once he got out of the car, embracing his team and loved ones, radiating joy in the interviews.
The new world champion could barely hold back his tears, thanking the entire team for an unforgettable season that brought him to the top of the world.
