Norris managed to come out on top despite a far-from-straightforward race, having lost a place off the line to his teammate and fallen into traffic after the first round of pit stops.

Norris also came under investigation during the race for passing Yuki Tsunoda beyond track limits, but the stewards ruled the Japanese driver at fault for weaving on the straight.

In the end, the Brit controlled the gap and the car all the way to the flag, sealing the first world title of his career by just two points over Verstappen.
