Mexicans behind Perez: 'Paid price for poor strategy of Red Bull'

Once again it was a dramatic weekend for Sergio Perez: after finishing 19th in qualifying (on which the Mexican decided to start from the pit lane, ed.), the Red Bull Racing driver crossed the line in 17th place. No less than two laps behind winner Lewis Hamilton and also team-mate Max Verstappen, Perez was two laps behind. According to Mexican media, this result in the British Grand Prix was down to Red Bull Racing and not Perez.

At Red Bull, they were far from happy with the performance of the second driver, who did not have the speed to make any impression. But so the media in his home country saw things differently. Reforma newspaper also attributes Perez's disappointing performance to Red Bull. "Red Bull used Sergio Perez as a guinea pig" is the first sentence of the report on the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. "For the Mexican it was an almost impossible mission to get back into the points after starting from the pit lane due to a change of engine and other elements, so he was the one experimenting with different strategies."

In any case, there is a realisation in Mexico that Perez must be careful not to lose his seat at Red Bull. "The races go by and Checo Perez's situation at Red Bull seems increasingly complex. Staying with the team is constantly in doubt.
