Mercedes-AMG Head of Motorsport Christoph Sagemuller spoke about Max Verstappen and the team led by Toto Wolff potentially being interested in him. Now that the
Spa-Francorchamps weekend is in full swing, the main topic of discussion in the paddock—after
Christian Horner’s departure—remains Max Verstappen’s future, whether he will stay at Red Bull or move elsewhere.
Puzzled by GPBlog among the other media yesterday about his future, the Dutchman once again preferred to stay vague, responding ironically that
“There is also a possibility I don't wake up tomorrow,” when asked about the possibility of driving for Mercedes in 2026.

'Mercedes is always looking for good drivers'
Speaking about the four-time world champion in an interview with Autosport Web, Mercedes-AMG Head of Motorsport Christoph Sagemuller admitted that "he's a good driver, and Mercedes-AMG is always looking for good drivers.''
However, he also admitted that he is satisfied with the current pairing of Antonelli and Russell, both of whom are still approaching the end of their contracts.
''We now have great drivers at Mercedes-AMG. Well, let's see how it goes,'' Sagemuller finally concluded.
Also speaking about his own future during media day,
Russell didn’t seem too worried: ''These last months, I've gone from a position where I was stressed about my future and I was concerned about it, and I've continued to perform.''He then added: ''I just think, it's in my own hands. So there's no point losing sleep about it. Mercedes need the best drivers in their race car and I believe that I'm right up there.''
''I don't think there's many people doing a better job than I am. I need them and they need me and that's how it goes in racing."
