McLaren's Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Andrea Stella have previewed this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix after losing ground at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. A fine Max Verstappen drive saw the Dutchman take his second win of the 2025
Formula 1 season, cutting the gap between himself and champion leader Piastri
to just 22 points. It was a worry for the British team to see Red Bull take control of the Grand Prix around Imola, something the Austrian team has not done throughout 2025 so far, while McLaren sealed five wins from six races to start the season, with Stella
explaining why the Austrian found more joy than his team.
Verstappennow has two wins this season after his Imola win, while Piastri will be search for victory number five in the principality.
Norris and Piastri prepared for the streets of Monaco
Norris, speaking before the race weekend in Monaco, will be looking to find his way back onto the top step of the podium, with his only win so far coming at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
“I’m mega excited to be in Monaco this weekend. It has seen so many special moments over the years, so it's always great to race here. I've carried on working hard with the team ahead of this weekend to put us in the best place possible to build on the positives from the last few rounds,” said the Brit, sitting P2 in the drivers' championship.
Piastri started from pole position in Imola, but could only finish in third, looking forward to racing this weekend in the principality and putting last week behind him.
“Monaco was a really strong weekend for me last year, and it’s a track that I’ve enjoyed some good results at throughout my junior career. It's always one of the highlights of the calendar, and I go into this race determined, hungry, and fully focused on the unique challenge that Monaco's famous streets pose.”
Stella expecting yet another close battle
Team principal Andrea Stella also had his say, and he continues to look behind the papaya-coloured team as others close the gap.
“After a strong start to the triple-header in Imola, we now head to the Monaco Grand Prix, one of the most iconic street circuits on the calendar. We expect the competition to be closer than ever, with potentially a few surprises as the particularities of the Monaco circuit can reward. We remain focused on ourselves and turn our attention to the next part of the triple-header,” the Italian explained.
