Verstappen is clear: 'You have to have that skill to be in F1'

To make it to the top of motorsport and compete in Formula 1, you have to stand up for yourself and be strong. For Max Verstappen, that is an important attitude to have on track, but he also stressed he has a soft side as well, which mainly appears in his private life.

Verstappen often stresses that he separates his private life completely from his career. He, therefore, has two different attitudes, he said in the Box Box podcast of Pirelli, where the Dutchman was asked which tyre suits his personality the most: the soft, the medium or the hard compound?

The three-time world champion decided to answer the question seriously. "I think it depends. Because I think you need to have a tough mentality in racing. Even to get to a Formula 1. In your personal life, probably you can be a bit more soft. So I'm probably in the middle then, medium, because I'm a hard and a soft, so medium. I'll go for a medium," Verstappen said.

Verstappen can enjoy a few more days off with his friends and family before travelling to the next weekend on the F1 calendar at COTA. The US Grand Prix will take place next, where the Dutch driver's team, Red Bull, hope to bring an important update package to fix their issues with the RB20. Verstappen currently has a 52-point lead ahead of Lando Norris in the drivers' standings.
