Charles Leclerc's British Grand Prix was as difficult as it could be. The monegasque driver, after the race was very adamant about expecting answers from Ferrari regarding the car's woeful pace. For anyone who saw the British Grand Prix unfold, it seemed as though if Leclerc at times was participating in an official round of the World Rally Championship. The Monegasque took to the grass on several occasions rendering his next to last result at the flag inevitable.
But the race, which he was set start from P6, suffered a massive blow before it even began, something Leclerc took complete responsibility for in conversations with media including GPblog, after the British Grand Prix.
Upon completion of the formation lap several drivers, including Leclerc bolted to the pits to don dry tyres.
Leclerc on damp slick tyres at Silverstone
Leclerc's strategic blunder of a call, doesn't explain his woeful British Grand Prix
"No, I'm not happy with the decision [to pit early for slick tyres, ed.] That was my decision," said Leclerc.
"The first and second sector was kind of for slicks. Third Sector was wet, but this, I expected it. I had seen it."
"But I expected the track to dry a lot quicker. It did not. We were [among] quite a few to have done that mistake, of thinking that it will dry quickly," the Monegasque explained.
But, for Leclerc, that strategical blunder did not acccount for the difficulties he experienced at
Silverstone. In tat respect, he looks to Ferrari for answers.
"This is part of the reason why we had a bad race, but I'll say that the biggest part is the lack of pace today, and on that, I want the answers before going back home," he demanded.
"So, I'll work hard to try and understand what was going on there," Leclerc concluded.
