Ralf Schumacher believes a move to Red Bull as Max Verstappen’s replacement would not be the best career decision for Charles Leclerc. Verstappen’s increasingly uncertain position, with the Dutchman growing more frustrated with the new
Formula 1 regulations, could potentially trigger a major ripple effect on the driver market if he were to walk away, hypothetically freeing up one of the most sought-after seats on the grid.
Speaking on the Backstage Boxengasse podcast, however, the former German driver believes it would be wiser for Leclerc to remain at
Ferrari:
"I think now you have to say it very honestly, Red Bull in its current situation is not really an option. This is now a long-term project again. First of all the engine development, which they have actually done well."The team at the moment is a bit all over the place, things are a bit chaotic. There is no proper communication to the outside. Helmut Marko as a figure is also missing there, to give some kind of guideline, in my opinion.
"I don’t know whether it would make sense for Leclerc to leave a team that is now just starting to work. I also can’t imagine that Ferrari is really considering it. That would be quite unwise, because I think the Lewis Hamilton situation is foreseeable under normal conditions, also just because of his age. Then you have to build up a new young driver, but then you also have to keep one. It's not really something I would recommend."
