‘I had two races’ – Lawson finds it hard to empathize with rookie

The Italian driver self-admittedly had a difficult stint during the European part of the season, claiming at the Hungaroring that 'he wasn't delivering.'

Speaking to Automoto.it, Liam Lawson was asked what advice would he give to the young Italian.

"It's not easy for me to empathize with him, because I've only been given two races in a top team," the New Zealander began.

"He's already shown it, and I'm sure that when he unlocks his potential, he'll return to the same level as before,” Lawson concluded.

Since then, young Italian finished fourth in Azerbaijan, and hopes to carry momentum forward to Singapore as Mercedes could gain on rivals Ferrari in the constructors' standings.

Like Antonelli, Lawson also had a successful weekend at the Baku City Circuit. Qualifying third, he finished fifth for Racing Bulls, gaining important points in the midfield battle.

Ahead of the current campaign, Lawson was promoted to Red Bull Racing to replace Sergio Perez. However, two weekends into the season, the Austrians replaced him with Yuki Tsunoda.

Lawson began to find form, first scoring points in Monaco, and then finishing inside the Top 10 in Austria, Belgium and Hungary as well.
