Sergio Perez has traveled to Azerbaijan with a victory in Monaco and a brand new contract in his pocket. However, the Mexican remains calm and knows he needs to maintain his current form.
Perez is beginning to emerge as an expert on street circuits. His first win with Red Bull Racing came in 2021 at the Baku City Circuit, where he had been on the podium twice before. He took his first pole at the Jeddah Circuit and two weeks ago he took the crown jewel of the Formula One calendar, the Monaco Grand Prix.

Special win in Monaco

The victory at the Monaco circuit was the most special so far lets 'Checo' know during the press conference prior to the race in Baku. "Every driver dreams of it his whole career and to realize this dream is something very special," he is quoted by SpeedWeek.com.
Perez is a late bloomer, needing 190 races for his first win in the sport and only joining a top team at the age of 30. According to Perez, everything in Formula 1 can change quickly, so it's important to take every opportunity you get.

Not making mistakes in Baku

As a former race winner, Perez knows well what to expect on the streets of the Azerbaijani capital. "A lot of confidence is needed at this circuit. You can't afford to make mistakes, because that can cost you dearly," concludes the 32-year-old driver.
