Daniil Kvyat had a more difficult qualifying session on Saturday after the success in Monaco, being knocked out in Q2, however he will start 10th for the race following a penalty for Carlos Sainz and Kevin Mangussen starting from the pitlane.
Kvyat has two consecutive points finishes, including seventh on the streets of Monaco a fortnight ago and will be hoping for a solid race this afternoon in Canada to boost his position in the standings.
Kvyat said after qualifying: “It was a solid Saturday for us and I was happy with my laps, so I don’t feel too bad with the result.
“When we tried to find that extra bit of pace it felt like there was something missing, so I think Q3 was going to be quite tight.
“It’s not a bad result though as the race is very long, so we’ll keep our options open and do our best to move forward tomorrow."
