This man just will not give up. He should not be in the hunt for an F1 seat after his horrific rallying accident in 2011 almost took his life and not just his career.
But here he is, Williams reserve driver. It’s an incredible story already but
Robert Kubica does not want it to end there.
The Pole says that his target is the same as it was last year: A race seat with Williams.
Kubica last raced in F1 for Renault in 2011 and there were rumours he was being lined up for a Ferrari drive, his obvious talent leading to him punching way above where his car should have been in many races.
Kubica is a one-time Grand Prix winner, he topped the podium in Canada in 2008, but his desire is not on winning just yet.
He said: “My status and position doesn’t change since the end of last year. Of course there will be a lot of talks although I’m staying away from them.”
Kubica was beaten to a race seat by
Sergey Sirotkin, but the Russian has not impressed this season, failing to score a point so far in his debut campaign.
Kubica continued: “There are more seats, more teams that might change their drivers. I am just targeting being on the grid with Williams.
“My target is to be on the grid and we will see. Realistically speaking, there are not many teams I can end up with or talk with.
“There is no magic.”
