Former Formula 1 driver Johnny Herbert believes that SportPesa Racing Point will become a competitive team once their development money comes in and they can build a car. This is likely to be next season but the team are bringing upgrades to the German Grand Prix which they will hope propels them into the midfield competition.
"Racing Point is having a bit of a tough time but I think with everything that's changed with Lawrence (Stroll) coming on board I think the future looks very good for Racing Point," Herbert said at a SportPesa fan zone interview.
"I'm very much looking forward to how Perez and Lance develop once this car comes into its own, once that development money comes into play."
The team have real potential and there was always going to be a transitional period as they took over from Force India. They have the driving talent and will soon have the car to match this, making them a competitive force on the grid.
