Alpine has announced that Pierre Gasly will start from the pit lane in today’s Italian GP, with the French team fitting a new power unit on the A525.
The French driver had finished qualifying yesterday in nineteenth, second-to-last, just behind his teammate Franco Colapinto and only ahead of Liam Lawson’s Racing Bull.

Speaking with GPblog after qualifying, the Frenchman commented his result: ''To be fair I think it was still good effort. We were really struggling and we closed the gap to the guys ahead.''
''I tried with three sets in Q1. Just a bit of a shame on my last attempt, I didn't have the cleanest run. I had some guys in turn 7.''
''All the traffic in turn 8, 9, 10, so it wasn't the cleanest attempt, but looking at the gap anywhere to Q2 would have not been enough.''
''I think that's just where we are and I'm not gonna lie. I knew that it was gonna be a tricky one anyways.''
