Hamilton sees room for improvement after first half of the F1 season: 'Just slightly above that'

Hamilton has enjoyed a positive 2026 season so far. He claimed his first Grand Prix victory with Ferrari in Barcelona and has also secured multiple podium finishes. He currently sits second in the drivers' standings, 45 points behind Kimi Antonelli.

When GPblog asked the Briton about the first half of his season, the Ferrari driver had a clear verdict. "Slightly above average, maybe," he explained.

Hamilton, for now, is not worried about the second part of the season. "I'm not thinking about the second part, I'm thinking about just this weekend one race at a time. I'm trying to figure out how I can maximize each weekend. I'm generally not thinking about the 10 races ahead."

The Briton was then also asked about adapting to the current regulations in Formula 1. He added: "I mean, I don't think it's more particularly rewarding to anybody. I don't feel like I've had to make more adjustments than any other era of cars."

Hamilton comes into the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix weekend hoping to add to his incredible record in Budapest, one of the Ferrari driver's favourite F1 stomping grounds.
