Vasseur drops telling Ferrari prediction ahead of Hungarian Grand Prix

The Maranello outfit have enjoyed an upturn in form, particularly since Lewis Hamilton's victory in Barcelona. Ferrari followed that success with Charles Leclerc's triumph at Silverstone before the Monegasque secured another podium, finishing second last time out at Spa.

Looking ahead to Hungary, Vasseur reflected on Ferrari's recent run of strong performances, expressing satisfaction with how the team has maximised its results over the past two race weekends. He also suggested that the Hungaroring's flowing sequence of corners and technical layout should play more to the strengths of the SF-26.

However, the Ferrari boss stressed that favourable circuit characteristics alone will not be enough. Aware of the strength of the competition, Vasseur insisted Ferrari must once again deliver a flawless weekend if it is to head into the summer break on a high.

"We head to Budapest after two encouraging weekends in which we managed to maximise our result thanks to a great team effort. That gives us confidence, but we also know that every Grand Prix throws up its own unique challenge. On paper, the Hungaroring could suit the characteristics of our car a little better, but that alone is no guarantee," Vasseur said in a Ferrari press release.

"As always, execution will make the difference: we will have to approach the weekend with the same concentration, discipline and attention to detail we have shown over the past two races. We have a united team, two highly motivated drivers, and we know we can count on the support of all our tifosi. Our objective is to keep moving in the same direction, working well from Friday onwards to put ourselves in the best possible position for qualifying and the race," the 58-year-old concluded.

Ferrari endured a frustrating Hungarian Grand Prix last year. Despite securing pole position, Leclerc could only convert it into a fourth-place finish, while Hamilton qualified 12th and was unable to make up any positions over the course of the race.

The Hungarian Grand Prix weekend follows the traditional Formula 1 format, as was witnessed at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Track action begins on Friday, 24 July, with Free Practice 1 at 13:30 CEST (12:30 BST), followed by Free Practice 2 at 17:00 CEST (16:00 BST). Saturday, 25 July, features Free Practice 3 at 12:30 CEST (11:30 BST), before qualifying gets underway at 16:00 CEST (15:00 BST). The Hungarian Grand Prix itself is scheduled to start at 15:00 CEST (14:00 BST) on Sunday.
