Setback for Aston Martin: updated car for Hungary delayed

GPblog is currently at the Hungaroring and sees every team hard at work preparing their cars. However, Aston Martin’s new B-spec car is nowhere to be seen yet.

With the upgrades, Aston Martin has brought a new chassis to Hungary, with which the team hopes to take a step forward. However, the delay has once again left the team on the back foot, with the new car for Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso not expected to arrive until later this evening, giving the mechanics significantly less time to prepare it for the weekend.

The team’s A-spec car has arrived at the circuit. It’s in Hungary as well because the team has a filming day next week. Since work on the new car cannot begin yet, the mechanics are cleaning the garage while they await the arrival of the new machinery.

Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin managing team principal Adrian Newey will headline the list of drivers and team representatives taking part in this weekend's FIA press conferences ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The opening drivers' press conference will take place on Thursday, 23 July, at 14:30 local time (13:30 BST), with Alonso joined by Alpine's Franco Colapinto and Williams driver Carlos Sainz. The second session, scheduled for 15:00 local time (14:00 BST), will feature Haas' Oliver Bearman, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri and Red Bull Racing's Isack Hadjar. The remaining drivers, including Max Verstappen, will complete their media duties later in the day at their respective team hospitality units.

The team representatives' press conference is scheduled for Friday, 24 July, at 15:30 local time (14:30 BST). Mercedes deputy technical director Simon Resta and Red Bull technical director Pierre Waché will join Newey. As is customary, Saturday's programme will conclude with a post-qualifying press conference featuring the top three qualifiers, while Sunday's post-race press conference will include the top three finishers.
