Verstappen confirms Red Bull's 'Macarena' wing decision ahead of the Hungarian GP

After it contributed to multiple incidents involving Verstappen at the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone, Red Bull reverted to its regular rear wing concept at Spa-Francorchamps.

Isack Hadjar was also hoping that the 'Macarena' wing would return for the Hungarian Grand Prix after its final checks, something Verstappen has now confirmed.

Speaking to Viaplay, he said: "We assume the issue has been resolved, but of course I don't know that. They have done multiple tests and performed other tests. Hopefully, it closes correctly now. That is the goal, after all."

The Dutchman added: "Fortunately, they were also able to simulate it. It is already very nice that you can replicate the problem. Now I just hope it has been resolved, because you obviously don't want that to happen here."

Verstappen was then asked whether the 'Macarena' wing would be back on the RB22 this weekend. "Yes," he affirmed.

A year ago, Verstappen confirmed ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix that he would remain with Red Bull Racing for the 2026 season. That was not the case this year, although he did answer a question about his future at the Hungaroring.

He continued: "So, for me, I'm just focused on trying to get the most out of the car, that's already complicated enough to deal with. That's what I'm just doing. I mean, this team is like a second family to me. I'm just trying to understand our car a bit better and of course get back to winning ways.

"But I mean, we've been close one weekend, I hope, of course, a little bit more often than just one weekend. But like I said before, it's definitely on an upward trend, so that's good to see," the Dutchman concluded to GPblog, among others.
