Christian Horner is no longer the Team Principal of Red Bull Racing. In a statement issued by Red Bull, Oliver Mintzlaff thanked Horner for his years of service.
"We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the last 20 years," the statement began.
"With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1.
"Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team history."

Why did Horner have to leave Red Bull?

Christian Horner’s dismissal comes in the wake of a turbulent period for Red Bull Racing, marked by declining performance and internal unrest. Since the beginning of 2024, tensions have been simmering within the team, and results on track have only amplified the instability.
Over the winter, Horner's control over the team had reduced. Control over driver decisions was handed back to Helmut Marko, following the controversial contract extension handed to Sergio Pérez, which reportedly came at a significant financial and strategic price.

In recent weeks, the pressure on Horner had intensified, not least due to the uncertainty surrounding Max Verstappen’s future with the team. Red Bull has become heavily reliant on Verstappen’s performances to remain competitive, placing Horner in an increasingly vulnerable position. Verstappen’s desire for a change in management structure appears to have added further weight to the decision to part ways with Horner.
