Honda insists the 4th place finish in Bahrain didn’t satisfy the engine supplier as they look to go even higher this weekend.
Pierre Gasly scored 12 points last weekend whilst driving the Toro Rosso Honda.
In the McLaren era, the Honda engine never scored that many points in a single race.
Now in a Toro Rosso car, Honda’s F1 technical director Toyoharu Tanabe said: “This year the story is different.”
“I cannot afford to be satisfied with this result, because there were three retirements and a minute of difference to the first three,
"We do not want to say great things now, as there is no choice but to keep climbing steps. Because we aspire to win and be number 1.”
But are Honda getting carried away with just one result?
Toro Rosso Honda’s other driver has finished last in both of the 2018 races.
And whilst in Melbourne, both cars needed a power unit change to allow the cars to race.
