Formula 1 heads back to Europe after a trip across the pond to Canada. Here are the times for the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg, Austria.
Last race weekend in Montreal, George Russell joined Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris, and Max Verstappen as the only drivers to win a race this season. Now, headed into the next race, fans are watching McLaren to see if they will rise to the top again.
McLaren did not finish on the podium, as Piastri placed fourth, and Norris did not finish after a last-minute collision with Piastri on the main straight. If McLaren continues at this pace, could we see a fifth winner?

Russell blows up the paddock with Mercedes-Verstappen 'ongoing conversations'

George Russell may be delivering his most consistent F1 season yet, but his future with Mercedes is still not set in stone. The Briton confirmed there’s no new contract news and casually dropped a bombshell: Mercedes are still actively in talks with Max Verstappen.
While Russell isn’t losing sleep over it, saying his current form speaks for itself, he admitted that having the deal done would offer some peace of mind. With Mercedes chasing the top once again, Russell understands why team boss Toto Wolff is exploring every possible option, even if that includes Verstappen.
What’s clear, though, is that Russell doesn’t see himself as the one under threat. Toto has told him directly that his performance is up there with the very best, with Verstappen being the only benchmark worth mentioning.
So if the Dutchman does make a move, it’s rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli whose seat could be at risk. Still, Russell’s remarks confirm one thing: the Verstappen-Mercedes storyline isn’t over, even if Max stays at Red Bull as GPblog managed to confirm that the Dutchman had laid his fortunes at Red Bull's doorstep for 2026.

Verstappen corrects Bitish journalist

Max Verstappen could hardly hide his annoyance during the Austrian Grand Prix press conference, rolling his eyes at yet another question about his growing penalty points total.
Now sitting on 11, just one shy of an automatic race ban, the Dutchman sarcastically asked, “Is this a trap?” when pressed on the topic. He reiterated he won’t be changing his aggressive driving style any time soon. If Verstappen escapes the Red Bull Ring without incident, two of those points will expire, offering a small but crucial lifeline.
The conversation didn’t stop there, though. Fellow drivers Pierre Gasly and Isack Hadjar joined the discussion, with Gasly suggesting the FIA’s current penalty system may be too harsh for drivers constantly pushing the limits.
Verstappen, clearly walking on eggshells, refused to wade in any deeper: “I cannot risk getting a penalty point.” As the debate around stewarding decisions intensifies, it’s clear that many in the paddock feel the rules might need a rethink.

The next track: Red Bull Ring

The Red Bull Ring is 4.3 kilometres long. It is not the shortest track, but it is the quickest one. Last year, Max Verstappen's pole sitting lap time was a 1:04.314.
The circuit has 10 corners in total, with Turns 1, 3 and 4 being the prime opportunities where drivers could overtake after DRS zones.
The Dutchman is also the most successful driver in the history of the Austrian Grands Prix, having won it four times. Moreover, he also won a the Styrian Grand Prix at this track as well.
