Lewis Hamilton insists that if he is to win the 2018 World Championship, it would be mean so much more to him given the quality of the competition.
Hamilton is yet to win a race in 2018, his last win came back in October 2017.
In his latest interview, Lewis seems to be holding more of an optimistic view than that he had in China.
“Who knows what the season holds,” the four-time World Champion said.
“If we continue the way it is, it’s going to be tough to win.
“If there is an opportunity and we were to finish on top, it would mean even more because it’s an even tougher season than before.”
Hamilton went on to admit that Ferrari is faster than them.
“We are the second, or third fastest team at the moment so we have some improving to do, but that’s not impossible,” said Lewis.
“I think what this team has shown over the years that we are great at staying united and continuing to power on and keep working.
“Everyone here, back at the factory is just going to keep pushing as hard as possible.”
The Mercedes team are going to have to work harder than ever before against serious pressure from the likes of Ferrari and Red Bull.
