Lewis Hamilton claims it wasn’t easy being the only Silver Arrow defending both Ferrari drivers throughout the Australian Grand Prix.
Hamilton’s teammate, Bottas, received a five-place grid penalty for changing a gearbox as a result of his crash in Q3.
This left Hamilton surrounded by Ferrari in which Raikkonen's pit stop was matched by Hamilton.
This forced Vettel into the lead who waited to pit until the perfect moment when the virtual safety car come seven laps later. This eventually allowed him to take the win.
Hamilton said: “It’s definitely not easy to fight against a team with two cars in the mix compared to one team with one.
“The Ferrari’s were always going to play one of the other, there’s two of them.
“They’ve got two aces or whatever, two jacks or jokers.
‘You pit one guy which forced you to protect yourself on the undercut, but the other guy’s in the clear.
“And in my mind, I was just like ‘look out for number three (Vettel), as that’s who I think I was racing but Kimi drove fantastically well - he was generally quick all weekend.”
