Thanks to Isack Hadjar's standout performances in the Racing Bulls car, speculation is growing about a possible promotion to Red Bull Racing as Max Verstappen's teammate. GPBlog asked the Frenchman if he would take the Red Bull seat despite the struggles Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda have had in 2025.
"When I signed the contract with Red Bull four years ago, the goal was to get to Red Bull, so it hasn't changed," Hadjar replied.
However, the Frenchman acknowledges that securing the seat next to Verstappen would not be an easy task. "I think Max in the Red Bull is very fast. It's his car, and he drives it to the absolute limit. It's a more efficient car in high-speed corners. It's a faster car but it's apparently hard to exploit most of it," Hadjar explained.
Max Verstappen qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix
Although the impressive rookie wants to move to the Austrian team in the future, he also emphasises that he is fully focused on his development at Racing Bulls. "It's not like I'm in total control, I'm scoring points every weekend, there's still lots to learn, so it makes more sense to stay where I'm at at the moment, that's for sure," he said.
Hadjar sees everyone at a disadvantage against 'explosive' Verstappen
Having Max Verstappen as anyone's teammate would be a challenge, Hadjar admits.
"You would start the weekend on the back foot all the time. Because he gets in the rhythm, he's very explosive, and he gets in the rhythm very fast.
"So we always have to make up lap time and try and get there. So it's definitely a different approach, something I never experienced because I never faced a four-time world champion."
