Pierre Gasly knows the difficulties that come with being in the second Red Bull seat. During the British Grand Prix weekend, he took up for his old teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, who is currently struggling at Red Bull Racing.
Until he made the move to Alpine in 2023, Gasly was a part of the Red Bull family. He got his start at Racing Bulls but was called up to race for Red Bull Racing in 2019. Unfortunately, his time at Red Bull Racing did not last long as he was replaced halfway through the season by Alex Albon.
Now, Tsunoda occupies the second seat and has joined the long list of Max Verstappen's teammates. He was finally promoted to take over for Liam Lawson after just two races this season.

However, Tsunoda has also not been able to prove himself. About that, Gasly told GPblog among others, "To be fair, we all get put in the same basket when it comes to the second car."
He continued, "But to me, things were very different to me than what they were for Alex or they were for Perez. I’m not going to elaborate too much on that."
During his time at Red Bull Racing, Verstappen has had six teammates. Most of which had been replaced by the team.

"Clearly, something is not clicking for Yuki. I just hope for him as a friend that somehow it comes together because the level there is on the grid."
Tsunoda has not only been outperformed by Verstappen but also by rookie Isack Hadjar and Lawson, both at Racing Bulls.
Gasly said, “You know what everybody is capable of doing – it just doesn’t seem right.”
