Qualifying for the inaugural
Saudi Arabia Grand Prix may have been the most exciting of the season so far. While
Lewis Hamilton had the fastest time,
Max Verstappen was on a mega fast lap. However, he was unable to complete this lap due to a heavy touch with the wall.
Mercedes in first and second place
This means that Hamilton will start from pole position on Sunday with teammate
Valtteri Bottas in second place. Verstappen was eventually fast enough for third place, but will have to attack the Mercedes drivers on Sunday.
Charles Leclerc always seems to be able to go faster on street circuits and that was also the case in Saudi Arabia. The Monegasque set a good fourth time.
Sergio Perez was just faster than
Pierre Gasly and can start from P5. The big surprise in the top ten is
Antonio Giovinazzi who drove his Alfa Romeo to a good tenth time.
