Former Ferrari F1 reserve driver and WEC AF Corse racer Robert Shwartzman, now a PREMA driver in IndyCar, vented on social media about a recent rumor circulating about him.
The Israeli-Russian driver has long been part of the cohort of young talents who could have made the jump to Formula 1 but, for various reasons, never realized the dream of racing in motorsport’s premier class.
Nevertheless, Shwartzman can still boast an impressive career so far, having won the F3 championship in 2019, finished second in F2 in 2021, and served as one of AF Corse’s three lead drivers in the WEC last year, running as leader up to the sixth hour of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This year, the former Ferrari Driver Academy racer crossed the Atlantic to take on the challenge of racing in IndyCar with Team PREMA, with whom he had previously competed in F3 and F2, and who made their IndyCar debut this season.
His first season in the U.S. hasn’t been memorable, although he can still boast a pole position at the iconic Indianapolis 500, only to be forced to retire during the race due to a crash in the pitlane. The Israeli-Russian finished the season with 211 points, placing twenty-fourth overall.

Shwartzman shares social media statement

Recently, rumors had circulated that he wasn’t particularly enjoying his IndyCar adventure, which Shwartzman himself sought to deny via his social media channels: “I want to take a moment to address something that’s been circulating recently.''
“I keep seeing comments and have received messages suggesting that I’m unhappy in IndyCar, or that I don’t enjoy racing here. Let me be absolutely clear: I have never said that, and I’ve never even thought it. These rumours come from speculation, and not only is it inaccurate, it’s damaging and frankly offensive.''
“The truth is the complete opposite,'' he added. ''I am very happy to be racing in IndyCar. I love the series, the competition, the atmosphere, the variety of the circuits; the fans are passionate and the paddock is very welcoming.''
“So please don’t believe everything you read when it isn’t coming directly from me. If I have something to say about my career or how I feel, you’ll always hear it from me first.''
