Pre-season testing aside, the early part of the 2019 was a disaster for Ferrari. They arrived in Australia as real challengers to Mercedes but ended up leaving with their tails between their legs. Vettel didn't convert his pole position into a race win after getting penalised for an incident with Lewis Hamilton. Vettel went up to the marker boards and swapped Hamilton's number one with his number two.
