The FIA has summoned two drivers for allegedly driving unnecessarily slowly during Sprint Qualifying, with both set to appear before the stewards at Silverstone. The drivers in question are
Alexander Albon and
Arvid Lindblad, with both summoned over the same alleged offence. They are accused of breaching Article 12.2.1.i of the FIA International Sporting Code, which relates to driving unnecessarily slowly.
The Racing Bulls driver delivered another impressive qualifying performance, comfortably reaching SQ3 before ending the session in 10th. It was a much tougher outing for Williams, however, with Albon managing only 16th on the grid, finishing behind his teammate.
Sprint Qualifying at Silverstone proved to be closely contested from start to finish, with
Lewis Hamilton emerging as the driver to beat in every segment. The Ferrari driver topped both SQ1 and SQ2 before producing another standout lap in the one-shot SQ3 finale to secure Sprint pole. Kimi Antonelli came agonisingly close to denying him, missing out by just 0.011s, while Max Verstappen edged Charles Leclerc for third by only six thousandths. George Russell endured another difficult qualifying session and had to settle for fifth.
