Former Alfa Romeo driver and current WEC driver for the Scuderia, Antonio Giovinazzi would replace Charles Leclerc, IF the Monegasque driver would not be able to sit behind the steering wheel of the SF-25 at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. Alongside competing in WEC for
Ferrari, Antonio Giovanazzi is also the Italian team's reserve driver. Leclerc had to skip media day in
Imola because of being sick.
Thus, if Leclerc is unable to participate in the sessions, reserve driver Giovinazzi will replace him at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
However, Leclerc has arrived to the circuit, and they expect him to be ready to suit up already on Friday.
Ferrari could greatly benefit from a good weekend, as the season so far has been anything but smooth. The team are currently only fourth in the constructors' standings, and only scored a single podium other than Lewis Hamilton's success in the Sprint with Leclerc. During the previous race in Miami,
Ferrari were once again the topic of discussion because of the team orders carried out by the team.
Giovinazzi last competed in F1 in the 2021 season for Alfa Romeo. Together with Ferrari, he won the 24h of Le Mans in 2023, and they currently lead in the WEC standings in 2025.
