Sebastian Vettel has given a very honest assessment of the situation
Ferrari are in at the moment. The
Ferrari driver feels that
Red Bull have proved
Mercedes are reachable but concedes they are now third in line.
It has been a far from the ideal season for the Scuderia as they are yet to win a race this season, Mercedes winning ten and
Max Verstappen two from 12 races this season. The season started with plenty of expectation for Ferrari after topping much of pre-season testing and with
Charles Leclerc and Mattia Binotto starting new roles at the team.
In recent races, the deficits Ferrari have been evidently clear especially in Hungary as they finished a minute off the leaders. Despite their poor form
Sebastian Vettel is taking optimism from the form of the Red Bull team but admits they're probably behind them now.
“Let's say that Mercedes is currently in the best position with the strongest car. Our goal is therefore to beat them," Vettel told journalists in Belgium.
"It's not going to be easy, but that's why we're here.
“It is possible to close the gap. Red Bull has shown that. They were behind Mercedes and probably behind us at the start of the season. I think they are closer to Mercedes than we are at the moment."
