A day before drivers go before the media at the Austrian Grand Prix, there was plenty of news today, with news circulating that Arvid Lindblad will be joining Max Verstappen during FP1 at the British Grand Prix. Along with that, claims of bias surrounding Verstappen have been slammed, and Sergio Perez speaks on Red Bull's regret to replace him Earlier today, Helmut Marko announced that Arvid Lindblad would be driving in FP1 at the British Grand Prix, giving the 17-year-old his
F1 debut just weeks after acquiring his superlicense.
The super-talent has been touted as the next Max Verstappen, and he will be able to show that at his home Grand Prix as he takes to the RB21 for the first free practice session. However, it was not announced who Lindblad would be replacing.
It was then believed that the British-Swede would be replacing Yuki Tsunoda at Silverstone, which would see Lindblad and Verstappen take to the track for FP1 together.
Arvid Lindblad currently sits P3 in the championship in his debut Formula 2 season, aided by a recent feature race win at the Spanish Grand Prix.
There has been plenty of talk surrounding a bias against Max Verstappen, especially from the British media.
The Dutchman and
Red Bull Racing boycotted Sky Sports during a Grand Prix weekend in 2022, along with Verstappen also poking fun at the fact that very few members of the Britsh media made it to the post-race press conference after the four-time champion took a stunning win at the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix.
However, six-time Grand Prix winner Riccardo Patrese believes there is no bias in the pinnacle of motorsport, saying that "champions just like winging".
There has been some talk from Sergio Perez about leaving Red Bull Racing and his 2024 season at the Austrian team.
The Mexican was handed a contract extension after a promising start to the campaign. However, a drastic decline in his results meant Perez was let go after the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, replaced by Liam Lawson.
The 35-year-old was asked if he believes Red Bull regrets the move to get rid of him, with Perez responding by saying, "I know that deep down they regret it. I have it from a very reliable source."
