Christian Horner is no longer the team principal at
Red Bull Racing after the Briton was replaced by Laurent Mekies on Wednesday.
Horner spent 20 years at the Milton Keynes-based team and developed the team into title winners after Red Bull bought the Jaguar outfit.
Lewis Hamilton has battled Horner for much of his Formula 1 career since his McLaren days when he battled to get on terms with Sebastian Vettel.
IndyCar commentator Will Buxton feels the pair wouldn't be able to co exist within the same team.
He said: “There have been rumours already this year that he was being courted by Alpine, rumours linking him to Ferrari. I think that one’s more of a stretch than the Alpine one.
“He’s very close with Flavio Briatore. That one would seem to be more logical for me,” Buxton speculates in The Sports Agents podcast, although
GPblog has outlined why joining Alpine could not be as straightforward.
“If they replaced Fred with Christian Horner, I don’t think Lewis would be a Ferrari driver for much longer!" Martin Brundle believes Christian Horner being removed from his role as team principal and CEO at Red Bull may cause
Max Verstappen to stay.
This season has been underwhelming for Verstappen as the four-time world champion has won just two races.
He took the victory in Japan and at Imola but hasn't bee able to match the raw pace of the McLarens consistently.
Brundle said: "It perhaps makes it more likely that the Verstappens [Jos and Max] will stay there. I think it became quite personal," Brundle explained on Sky Sports F1."
"Every point, podium and victory Max has through his own genius driving, is in a Red Bull car. He's often said he wants to see his career out at Red Bull if he can. They are debuting their own engine for the first time next year, in what will be the biggest change in F1 history of car and power unit, at the same time."
