Will Buxton, former F1 TV presenter, believes that Ferrari will not sign Christian Horner as team principal. In that case, the Italian team might face the risk of Lewis Hamilton packing his bags and leaving.
Like many people in the F1 paddock, Buxton believes that Horner will return to the sport at some point. For now, two teams are mentioned as possible destinations for the Brit; Alpine and Ferrari.

Horner at Alpine or Ferrari?

At Alpine, there isn't team principal working (yet) after the departure of Oliver Oakes, although Steve Nielsen has recently joined as team manager under interim boss Flavio Briatore.
According to the Italian press, Ferrari is looking for a replacement for Frederic Vasseur; something that the Italian racing team consistently denies.

“There have been rumours already this year that he was being courted by Alpine, rumours linking him to Ferrari. I think that one’s more of a stretch than the Alpine one.”
“He’s very close with Flavio Briatore. That one would seem to be more logical for me,” Buxton speculates in The Sports Agents podcast, although GPblog has outlined why joining Alpine could be not as straightforward.
In any case, Buxton can't imagine Lewis Hamilton and Christian Horner being on the same team. Even more so, that Horner would be Hamilton's boss. “If they replaced Fred with Christian Horner, I don’t think Lewis would be a Ferrari driver for much longer!" he concluded.
