Will Buxton [William Thomas Buxton] is a British motorsport journalist. He was born on February 14, 1981, in Portsmouth, England. He is best known for his work in Formula 1.
Will Buxton’s rise in Formula 1 journalism
While studying at the University of Leeds, Buxton was already writing for a Formula 1 website. In 2002, he joined the official Formula 1 Magazine. When the magazine shut down in February 2004, Buxton continued as a freelancer. He worked as a press officer in GP2 before being promoted to Director of Communications. In 2009, he became a commentator for the GP2 Series and the GP2 Asia Series for the Formula One Group.
From 2010, he worked as a pit reporter for Speed, an American channel owned by Fox Sports. He remained in this role until late 2012, when the broadcasting rights ended. He then continued as a pit reporter with NBC Sports, where he also covered the IndyCar Series.
In 2014, Buxton took part in the Florida Winter Series, competing in three events against drivers including Max Verstappen, Lance Stroll, and Nicholas Latifi.

After Liberty Media’s takeover of Formula 1, Buxton lost his position at NBC Sports. He then became the first digital presenter for the Formula One Group, working on F1 TV and the official F1 YouTube channel. He also featured prominently in the Netflix series Formula 1: Drive to Survive. He continued in this role until the end of the 2024 season.
