Rumours began going around regarding four-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou and a potential move to Formula 1. Palou, like Verstappen, won in 2021, 2023, and 2024.
About the rumour,
Will Buxton said that he would both love and hate it if Palou were to move to
Red Bull Racing. In his tweet he said,
"Would love it for him and because I think he’s one of the very best racers in open wheel right now and would surprise a lot of people, showing the world just how high the level is in IndyCar. Would hate it because that second Red Bull seat has a hex on it, one which even Palou might struggle to overcome."
Shortly after this, the rumoured were debunked.
Palou's manager, Roger Yasukawa, told Spanish medium MARCA that they have not been in talks with Red Bull Racing or Formula 1 at all.
He said, "We haven't spoken to anyone in Formula 1 about Alex." Had the talks been happening, Palou would have joined Isack Hadjar in being linked to the second Red Bull seat.
