George Russell set the quickest time during the only free practice session of the Singapore Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver's best lap was a 1:32.274.
With only a single free practice session ahead of Sprint Qualifying, drivers wasted no time entering the circuit and racking up plenty of laps.
After improving on his final lap, Charles Leclerc finished second, ahead of defending world champion Lando Norris and his teammate Lewis Hamilton.
The Monegasque driver's gap to Russell was just shy of a tenth of a second. Norris finished around three tenths behind the Mercedes driver, while Hamilton's best time was half a second slower. However, the Ferrari driver could not complete his final flying lap.
Oscar Piastri was the slowest of the frontrunners on soft tyres, with the Australian finishing fifth.

Kimi Antonelli and the two Red Bull Racing drivers, Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar, opted to do their flying laps on the medium tyres. The Dutchman consequently set the sixth-fastest time in FP1. During SQ1 and SQ2 later today, it will be mandatory for every driver to use the mediums.
No drivers have damaged their cars on the narrow streets of Singapore so far today. Audi, however, will have to investigate what happened to Nico Hulkenberg's car after the German had to stop on track, triggering a brief Virtual Safety Car period.
Moreover, Russell's grid penalty for the race has also been officially confirmed, with the FIA sharing the list of new power unit components being used this weekend.
