Formula One journalist and former Williams team manager Peter Windsor outlined that a Max Verstappen world championship would be a great thing for the sport.
“Imagine what that would be for the sport, for the money, for liberty media, for wall street, for everything.”

Despite singling out Lando Norris as the championship favourite following his dominant Mexico GP win, Windsor argued that a Verstappen title in 2025 would be a huge commercial coup for F1.
Verstappen’s deficit to the championship leader was as large as 104 points after the Dutch GP but he now trails frontrunner Norris by 36 points with just four race weekends remaining.

Verstappen title a big success for Liberty Media

Speaking on the Cameron Cc YouTube channel Windsor said: “I would love to see Max do it.
“If we were getting that excited about him maybe finishing second in Mexico, imagine what would happen if he won the world championship.
“Imagine what that would be for the sport, for the money, for Liberty Media, for Wall Street - for everything.
“But also because Max is a very very good racing driver, it would be totally just.”

Plaudits for McLaren duo

Whichever way the title will be decided in the remaining races, Windsor appeared content. He also outlined a compelling championship-winning narrative for McLaren.
“Having said that, Lando and Oscar have been through the ups and downs at McLaren - the growing pains at McLaren in Lando’s case certainly, Oscar less so.
“But both of them have had their days and both have them have beautifully to win Grand Prix, so both of them deserving world champions which ever way it falls for them.

“I don't really have any feel either way about that, I think they're both deserving.
“Although this patch that Oscar is going through is starting to put a little bit of shadow on everything he's done so far and he really needs to get out of the ‘funk’ and get on with it.”
In Mexico, Norris took the championship lead for the first time since Bahrain as Oscar Piastri - just one point behind - struggled to get the most out of the MCL39.
