Formula 1 team bosses Ayao Komatsu and Mike Krack have urged the sport’s governing bodies to make a swift decision regarding the fate of the Bahrain Grand Prix and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix amid growing uncertainty in the Middle East.
“Honestly, the sooner we know, the better.”

Both races are facing uncertainty over whether they will take place this season due to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
While neither Saudi Arabia nor Bahrain has been an active participant in the conflict, Iran’s decision to target facilities in both countries has raised concerns about whether the events can go ahead as planned.
Asked how quickly they would want a decision to be made about both Grand Prixs, Haas F1 team boss Komatsu, speaking to GPblog, detailed how an early decision would be beneficial for everyone involved.
“Honestly, the sooner the better. You know, I'm sure, obviously, everyone's dealing with the things that I'm not aware of. So yeah, I don't know. But obviously, as a team, the sooner we know, the better. We'll know within this week for sure. I'm sure we will. It's a big problem. Honestly, the sooner we know, the better,” he said.

Chief trackside engineer at Aston Martin, Mike Krack, also touched on the complexity of the situation, labelling it as difficult before expressing confidence that whatever decision would be reached by F1 and the FIA would be in the best interests of the sport.
“I think it's a difficult situation, but it's a difficult situation for everybody. I think F1 and FIA do their utmost to make the right decision and we need to respect that. And I think you can always find a lot of arguments for either, you know, like early cancellation or continuation. So I think for us, it is a situation that, you know, we have to plan in two scenarios or maybe even more if there is a replacement or whatever other scenarios might come,” Krack told GPblog.
“Formula One teams are very flexible organisations that are quite reactive and flexible. So we will deal with whatever is being decided and I'm sure the correct decision will be made,” he concluded.
The Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix are currently scheduled to take place on consecutive weekends between April 1 and April 19. However, whether the races will go ahead as planned remains shrouded in uncertainty.
