On Thursday, Ayao Komatsu said Christian Horner approached Haas F1. GPblog understands, however, that Horner himself did not directly initiate contact with the team. The Daily Mail previously reported that Horner, the former Red Bull Racing team principal,
was eyeing the purchase of shares in Haas F1.
The team dismissed selling shares in the past, as GPblog understands the stance of Gene Haas has not changed in that regard.
During media day, Haas
F1 team principal Ayao Komatsu talked about the Brit approaching his team.
“Yes it’s true that he approached us. And then one of our guys had an exploratory, let’s say, a talk. Then that’s it. Then nothing’s gone any further," the Japanese team principal commented in Singapore.

GPblog understands it was not Horner who initially approached the American team. There was no direct contact from him; instead, an intermediary reached out to both Horner and a representative of team owner Gene Haas.
Cowell leaves the door open for Horner in Singapore
Also talking on Thursday, Aston Martin team principal and CEO Andy Cowell was asked about the possibility of Horner joining the team.
The Brit left the door open for Horner to join.
"We've got a plan and we're marching forward. I guess Christian needs to work out where he wants to play a part in the future. Who knows what will happen," he concluded in Singapore.
In September, F1 journalist Joe Saward detailed the possibility of Horner joining Aston Martin.
GPblog understands
there was no truth to these rumours either.
