Mercedes lost ground in the Constructors’ Championship after slipping behind McLaren in the Miami Grand Prix Sprint. The Brackley-based outfit, which had been the standout performers season so far, could only manage a fourth- and sixth-place finish following a challenging outing in Florida. Lando
Norris and Oscar Piastri secured a dominant one-two result for McLaren, while Charles Leclerc completed the podium in third.
The outcome of the 19-lap shootout saw Mercedes’ advantage reduced, with both Ferrari in second and McLaren closing the gap. Red Bull Racing also added valuable points, with Max Verstappen finishing fifth. Alpine further boosted their tally, thanks to a points finish for Pierre Gasly in Miami.
Heading into Grand Prix Sunday, Mercedes sit on 143 points, with Ferrari on 98. McLaren emerge as the biggest winners from the Sprint, climbing to 61 points, while Red Bull follow on 20. Haas round out the top five with 18 points.
