Kimi Antonelli has lost some ground in his F1 2026 title fight with Mercedes teammate George Russell, after the young Italian was given a late five-second penalty at the Miami GP Sprint and dropped to P6.
Antonelli was deemed to breach track limits one too many times at the Hard Rock Stadium, which has seen his nine point advantage on Russell come down to seven. It could have been more for the Briton, but the best he could do on Saturday was P4.
While limited points are given out for the Sprint race, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have scooped up some much-needed points for McLaren after their slow start to 2026. Norris brings home eight more points after his win, while Piastri scores seven after his P2.
Charles Leclerc is now twenty points off the Drivers' standings lead, with his teammate Lewis Hamilton 12 points behind him in P5. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen gains points after his P5 finish. Earning the final point is his old Red Bull teammate Pierre Gasly, whose solid start for Alpine continues in 2026.
